The KasCo is the audit committee, the independent committee responsible for ensuring that the Gerardus board does not misappropriate the association’s money. The KasCo is tasked with ensuring the treasurer is spending the money as agreed upon, and being honest with the board and the membership. The KasCo has two primary responsibilities: giving advice to the membership regarding the proposed budget at the start of the year GMA, and reviewing the financial year report and realized budget at the end of the year. At the end-of-year-GMA the KasCo presents their findings, and can object to the budget if deemed necessary. However, the voting of the members is binding, and members can vote in favor of the budget regardless of a negative advice of the KasCo.
See the handbook for more detailed information on the KasCo.
